Ray Greer

Ray and his wife have been breeding and exhibiting Shetland Sheepdogs since 1971 and Border Collies under the prefix SHELTON, and since then have produced some 46 NZ Champions and the only 4 NZ Grand Champions for the breed. Their stock has been exported to Australia & to Asia & is prevalent throughout New Zealand. Between our big winners in NZ they have graced the Best in Show dais some 55 times and have given us a breeding base that we are very proud of.

Other breeds that we have bred or exhibited are Dobermans, Miniature Pinschers, English Pointers & of late Border Collies. Our Border Collies are down from the renowned Australian Kennoway Kennels and have consistently over the last 18 years dominated the Border scene in this country. A recent Border Collie export back to Australia in 2008 gained his Australian championship status.

Ray started judging in the late 1970’s and attained his Allbreeds status in 1991. He has judged extensively throughout NZ, Australia, and also in Canada, South Africa, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Argentina and Ireland. A return trip to South Africa in 2006 to judge a Working & Herding Group specialty along with two All-breed show appointments as well as an appointment in 2002 to judge the Working Group at the Brisbane Royal Show has to be regarded as judging highlights.

He has served on many dog related committees in NZ, and is a current examiner in the judges training & evaluation program..

Ray is a past President and Life member of the NZ Kennel Club, Kumeu Kennel Association, The Shetland Sheepdog Club & the South Island Shetland Sheepdog Club.
